Neil Johnson, OBE, has had a most diverse executive career spanning the motor industry, the army, and the engineering industry concluding as the Chief Executive Officer of the RAC plc. He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of one private company, Motability Operations Group plc. and is Non-Executive Chairman of Hornby Plc and an AIM listed company, Cybit Plc.
He has recently stepped down as Chairman of Tenon Group Plc and Autologic Holdings plc.
In January 2008 Neil became Chairman of Camden Group Services. He was recently appointed as an Independent Member of the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) and is an Adviser to a number of private companies trusts.
Prior to being CEO of RAC plc, where Neil oversaw the successful demutualisation and sale process, he was the Director General of the Engineering Employers' Federation responsible for national relationships with the engineering unions, and representing the engineering industry to UK government and internationally. He was seconded there by British Aerospace where he was previously the Executive Director responsible for the European automotive operations of British Aerospace and the Rover Group.
He was previously on the board of Jaguar Cars Limited responsible for worldwide sales and marketing and had various general management roles in the British motor industry. During this period he was seconded to the Ministry of Defence where he served as the Commanding Officer of 4th Battalion, The Royal Green Jackets.
Neil has served on a number of governmental advisory boards and task forces and is currently involved as a trustee for a number of organisations.
