Michael Cassidy has pursued parallel careers in the public and private sectors. A City lawyer for 36 years, mainly concerned with investments internationally for the UK's largest pension fund, he has been a long-serving Non-Executive Director at both British Land and UBS. Up until July 2009 Michael served as Chairman of the AIM-quoted overseas property company, Trinity Capital plc. Michael headed up the Policy Committee at the City of London Corporation during the mid 1990's and transformed the relations with the incoming Labour Government. He chaired the Planning Committee in the late 1980's when huge changes came about following Big Bang. More recently he had experience at the Barbican Arts Centre working alongside Sir John Tusa, later leading to a Chairmanship at classical artist's managers Askonas Holt. He now chairs the Museum of London and is President of the London Chamber of Commerce. Academically, he has just finished nearly a decade of serving on the governing Boards of City University and University of the Arts, London. In 2007 he joined the Boards of International Financial Services London and the London Pensions Fund Authority (a Ken Livingstone appointment). In 2006 he was selected to Chair Homerton University Hospital Trust, Hackney's acute local hospital with a staff of 2000 and just under 500 beds. In 2004 Michael was awarded the CBE for services to the City.
